Mike Phelps1 Samuel 21:8-9 And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king's business required haste. 9 And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me. Our story opens today with David running for his life and coming into the tabernacle to find refuge.As we discussed last week, David didn't bring his own bread, he ate of the shewbread that God had ordained for the priests.There is a spiritual hunger in each of us that can never be satisfied with the bread that man can manufacture, we need the spiritual bread that we receive from coming to church!But, not only didn't David bring his own bread, he also neglected to bring his own weapon.And as I was studying this past week, looking at this passage again and again, my eyes were opened to something that I had read but never really seen before:behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephodNow, it is interesting to note the significance of each of these items:The sword - God's weapon for David which signified victory.The Ephod - the ...
